Dr. Mark J. Page, Optometrist, owner of Arizona's Vision, a comprehensive eye care center based in Phoenix, was recently invited to assist Google in the process of integrating Google Glass with prescription glasses. The search engine giant is preparing to introduce the device to mainstream consumers later this year and wants everyone to have the opportunity of using the new technology.

Google Glass is set to become one of the company's flagship products, capable of recording video and projecting content from the web, such as the latest news or your personal email. It also responds to voice commands, becoming a user's own personal assistant. Google's aim is for the product is for it to eventually replace traditional prescription glasses.

Google is also placing emphasis on style, not just the technological feature set. The frames will be made of titanium and the customer will have the option of four distinct frame shapes. Subtle color changes can also be requested.

Since the release of the beta version of Google Glass, the most requested feature was the option of obtaining prescription glasses. Dr. Page's involvement in the project is to facilitate the integration and ensuring the needs of patients are met when the product is released later this year.
