Dec 20, 2017 /prREACH/ -- (Las Vegas, NV) Asher College is pleased to announce its new Pharmacy Technician Certification Program for prospective students in the Las Vegas area.

Pharmacy technicians are health-care providers who are responsible for helping licensed pharmacists prepare and dispense prescription medications. According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of pharmacy technicians is projected to grow 12 percent from 2016 to 2026, which is faster than average for all occupations. As of May 2016, the average median salary for a pharmacy technician was more than $30,000 annually, with top annual earnings of more than $45,000. The Bureau of Labor Statistics also states that pharmacy technicians with formal education or training and national certification will be specifically sought after to meet these demands.

The Pharmacy Technician program at Asher College combines hands-on labs with informative lectures to help students feel comfortable working with prescriptions and medications and dealing with patients. The program prepares students to work in a variety of settings including nursing homes, pharmacies, insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies and government agencies.

A pharmacy technician is integral to the success of any pharmacy, said Asher College Instructor Jane De La Cruz.  She went on to say that Asher College provides a comprehensive pharmacy technician program to ensure Asher graduates will be ready to meet the demands of both their employers and their customers in this growing field.

The program prepares graduates for the nationally recognized Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) and earning their Pharmaceutical Technician License from the State of Nevada Pharmacy Board.

Students in the program will receive knowledge and skills in a variety of courses including Medical Terminology, Pharmacy Practice Essentials, Pharmacy Technology, Pharmacy Law and Ethics, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Calculations, Advanced Pharmacy Practice andMicrosoft Office Essentials. In addition to technical skills, Asher College  students will also receive career success and career development training to acquire the soft skills employers require for this profession.

Asher College Director of Career Services Bill Zavatchin said that the mission at Asher College is to ensure the pharmacy technician students are prepared with the exact skills they need to excel in their field and that Asher's hands-on training ensures pharmacy technician graduates will be ready to hit the ground running when they graduate.
