Jun 04, 2013 /prREACH/ -- BeWellBuzz, natural health & personal development authority website, has published a new article summarizing the findings of five years of studies that have proven flaxseed lignans beneficial in slowing the growth of breast cancer.

The article, titled New Research Reveals that Flaxseed Lignans May Lower Risk of Breast Cancer, is part of an in-depth article series aimed at raising awareness of the increasing use of alternative medical therapies in treating life-threatening health disorders. Specifically, it reviews evidence from six studies conducted over a period of five years on the positive effects of flaxseed lignans, seeds and oil in reducing breast cancer risk.

According to studies such as EPIC-Norfolk, one of the biggest cohort studies  examining the connection between diet and cancer, as well as other research conducted between 2008 and 2013, flaxseed has been identified as potentially protective against prostate and breast cancer. Specifically, flaxseed lignans have been proven to have a  beneficial effect on lowering estrogen levels, which has an active role in developing breast cancer.

Leading natural health advocate, Oksana Ostrovsky, shared “with many people becoming more persuaded to go the route of extreme procedures like a preventative mastectomy, like the one Angelina Jolie did, it’s never been more important to know you have natural health options.”

The findings of one study examining the dietary habits of 2,999 patients with breast cancer and 3,370 without were optimistic: there was a 36% reduced risk in both pre and post-menopausal women who consumed one slice of flax bread per week.
