Apr 28, 2017 /prREACH/ -- CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA - National Career Education (NCE) is hosting a Vision Wellness Open House at their campus located in Citrus Heights, California on May 17, 2017 from 10:00am to 1:00pm.

Fourteen million Americans experience some kind of vision impairment and it’s likely that they’re familiar with the importance of vision correcting devices, such as prescription glasses and contact lenses.

However, according to a 2006 study conducted by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), 11 million of the 14 million Americans who have trouble with their vision have uncorrected vision impairments. That’s almost 80 percent.

According to Paul A. Sieving, M.D., Ph.D., director of vision research at NIH, the 2006 study found that the majority of people who have vision impairment may achieve good vision with the help of glasses or contact lenses. Sieving states, “If an individual is having trouble seeing, they should get their eyes examined as soon as possible.”

National Career Education (NCE), a reputable career training college located in Citrus Heights, California, believes in the importance of good vision and also recognizes that vision impairments are not likely to disappear any time soon. This steady demand for professionals who are trained to identify and help correct vision impairment is part of why NCE began its newest Allied Health program that trains students to become optical/optometric assistants.

In an effort to educate people in the Sacramento area about healthy eyesight and to help those who might be experiencing difficulties with their vision identify their particular problem, NCE is offering a Vision Wellness Open House on May 17, 2017. At this open house attendees may enjoy:

  • Free eyeglass cleanings and free minor eyeglass repairs
  • Free visual screenings
  • Free depth perception tests
  • Free color vision tests

Attendees will also be invited to learn more about the Optical/Optometric Assistant program offered at NCE.

Individuals curious about their vision, as well as those interested in helping others achieve better vision, are encouraged to attend the May 17 event at 6249 Sunrise Blvd., Citrus Heights, CA 95610. Interested individuals who cannot attend the open house, but still wish to learn more about the Optical Assistant program at NCE are encouraged to call the campus at (916) 969-4900.
