Sep 09, 2015 /prREACH/ -- Charter One Realty has presented Hilton Head Regional Habitat for Humanity with a donation of $12,500, the balance of Charter One Realty’s $35,000 commitment for the purchase of a new Habitat for Humanity truck. This latest donation marks the third box truck that Charter One Realty has purchased for Hilton Head Regional Habitat for Humanity, which is part of the global Habitat for Humanity organization which brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Charter One Realty has a long-time relationship with Hilton Head Regional Habitat for Humanity, and over the past 15 years has donated more than $180,000 to the organization through both company and agent monetary donations, as well as by providing labor to build homes. The company has been part of building numerous Hilton Head Regional Habitat for homes since 2000, and has been actively involved in the building of new homes throughout the region.

“Being involved with Habitat for Humanity and helping people with housing is a natural fit for Charter One Realty,” says James Wedgeworth, President/Agent at Charter One Realty. Since housing is their business, giving back to the community is something that everyone at Charter One Realty feels is important to do, both as a company as well as through individual participation.

The relationship between Charter One Realty and Hilton Head Regional Habitat for Humanity began in 2000, through the relationship with Charter One Realty Partner/Agent Dick Patrick, who was a member of the Board of Directors of the Hilton Head Regional Habitat for Humanity. That first year, Charter One Realty sponsored the building of a Habitat Home in Brenden Woods, Bluffton, which was followed by the first purchase of a box truck for the organization in 2002. Charter One Realty purchased a second box truck for Habitat for Humanity in 2005, and this latest check presentation marks the third box truck that Charter One Realty has purchased for Habitat for Humanity.

In addition to the purchasing of three trucks for Hilton Head Regional Habitat for Humanity, Charter One Realty has played a significant role in the building of local homes through the organization. Between 2002 and 2015, Charles Sampson was the Project Coordinator for 6 REALTOR Blitz Builds – five of them in Brenden Woods, and the sixth one on Hilton Head Island. Also on each REALTOR Blitz Build, Charter One Realty and Charter One agents not only donated money for the Build, many also were on the job sites with their hammers, pounding nails and helping with the building process.
