This procedure used to be a time-consuming and uncomfortable process of shaping, grinding and polishing that often meant using messy impression materials and temporary fixtures that would then have to be removed, increasing treatment time and intensity.
The use of new E4D Technology allows Dr. Rubinshtein and her staff to have a metal-free restoration designed, providing patients with reduced discomfort, treatment intensity and downtime. The modernized restorative technology allows Bensonhurst Dental Care to measure, fabricate and deliver a replacement fixture in a single appointment. “We really can’t stress enough how much easier this procedure is on our patients. The E4D Technology decreases the overall appointment time, reducing the discomfort, waiting and replacement process enormously, allowing us to improve the ease and convenience of the restorative procedure for our patients and our clinic,” Dr. Rubinshtein said. “With E4D, our specialists can prepare an image scan of the patient’s full tooth using a special laser camera capable of safely and swiftly capturing the complete anatomy of the prepared tooth. The scan is then used to render a 3D image that we can use to create a replacement on the spot.”
After the rendering is complete, the crown, inlay or onlay is customized using the “virtual impression” taken by the 3D imaging software as patients enjoy a brief in-office downtime with some magazine or a TV. The entire process, which used to potentially take multiple appointments and prolonged discomfort, can now be completed by Bensonhurst Dental Care staff in less than two hours. Patients can even leave the office during the waiting period with a temporary replacement and return later that same day to have the new restoration completed.
