Invisalign braces are soft clear plastic aligners that fit over the patients teeth and are practically invisible when worn. The clear trays are worn for the majority of the day, but are completely removable and should be taken out while eating, drinking, and for brushing and flossing “More and more people are turning to Invisalign for their orthodontic treatment because it helps them maintain confidence in their smile even while they’re working on improving it,” said Dr. Kodish. “But what we see on a continual basis is that Invisalign patients have much healthier teeth during and after treatment than those with traditional metal braces simply because the procedure makes it easy for them to maintain dental health.
Patients with traditional metal braces have the tedious task of navigating between wires and brackets during daily dental health routines like brushing and flossing. Because flossing with metal braces requires extra time and special products, most people rarely complete this necessary task for dental health as often as is necessary to keep cavities away. As such, it’s highly common for patients with braces to have an increased number of cavities during or soon after treatment that need to be addressed.

Invisalign patients have a better chance at keeping their dental health in top condition during treatment, and also don’t have the effects of discoloration that metal braces patients often have once brackets and wires are removed.
