Apr 01, 2015 /prREACH/ -- An increase in birth rates has continued its trend since 2014. Not only are overall births still trending upwards, but also rates of in-vitro fertilization are on the rise since the beginning of the year.

With so many new young families, fathers all over the South Florida region have been talking about what happens to sex once baby is home. They have found a place just for guys to talk about what they can't talk about to the new mom in their life, and have been storming one South Florida Board Certified Sex Therapist office.

Gabriela Galvan de Antillon M.S., BCST, CAP of Blue Pearl Therapeutic, located in Coral Gables, has answered the much-needed space for new Dads. “I have seen an increase not only in calls from first time Dads wanting support and a place to talk about sex that they feel they cant say to their loved one, but also couples coming in for couples counseling within a few months after the birth of their first child.” With men who cheat on their wives/partner usually doing so for the first time shortly after the birth of their first child, there is no question that sex after baby is a touchy subject. Since the first year after the birth of a child can naturally be stressful. There is no question that sex can take a back seat and lead to infidelity.

A survey of 5,000 men who have cheated reveal that 78% were in their 1st marriage and 82% of those men began to cheat after their 1st child was born. Gabriela from Blue Pearl Therapeutic states, “Men who stray after the birth of a first child is more common than most would believe. Many men feel invisible once baby arrives; all the way to about the first birthday. Everything is about baby. Conversations, shopping trips, activities, visits from family and friends all focus on baby. Many men turn into the “carrier of all things” and are expected to cater to all requests regarding baby.”

When asked about how the mothers are viewing their husbands/partners role as a new father Gabriela from Blue Pearl Therapeutic states, “We do have to remember that it’s very natural for a new mother to be completely enamored and focused on their new little bundle. However, many women become less attentive to their husbands/partners needs overall and become more focused on their own needs and desires to be attended to by their loved one that the act of sex just becomes less important.”

Lastly, Blue Pearl Therapeutic will continue to offer private couples, individual, LGBT, sessions to address a wide range of concerns. Group sessions and educational seminars change periodically but finding the most up to date information is just a call or click away.
