Apr 08, 2014 /prREACH/ -- NEW YORK- BoxUp -, a new eco-friendly moving supplies provider based out of New York City, is taking aim at the traditional cardboard boxes used by people moving by offering an alternative product with zero environmental impact.

“The idea of BoxUp is to provide an affordable, sustainable way to make moving easier,” said Lily Tran, founder of the New York based company. “BoxUp was founded with Mother Nature in mind, and we are excited to help bring better sustainability to the New York moving industry.”

The idea behind BoxUp is simple. Customers can reserve all sorts of moving supplies online, including plastic crates, hand trucks, dish dividers, and more, which are then delivered to the customer, and picked after the move is completed. Pick-ups and drop offs are free.

BoxUp offers 14 different moving products, which is currently the largest selection of eco-friendly moving supplies in the crate rental sector. All products are made from environmentally conscious materials with both reusability and recyclability in mind.

BoxUp is the brainchild of Tran, a career changer who volunteered as a clean energy investment analyst in Africa after being laid off from her job in financial services. Upon returning from Africa, -Tran earned her M.S. in Sustainability Management from Columbia University, where she had the idea for BoxUp.

“I think if you're going to build a company, you should build one that has some personal meaning to you,” said Tran “It heightens your sense of survival when things get tough and makes it more rewarding when you succeed.”

In addition to being a much more environmentally conscious option than cardboard moving boxes, BoxUp cratesare also a cheaper option. The crates are bigger, sturdier, and easier to carry than traditional cardboard moving boxes, meaning labor costs go down.

“I want BoxUp to become a transformative power in the moving industry, a profitable company that proves it's possible to offer affordable products and services without sacrificing convenience and environmental protection,” she added.
