Jul 24, 2017 /prREACH/ -- Despite public awareness and the social pressure for drivers to make good decisions if they have been consuming alcohol, drunk driving still happens every single day in the United States. Sadly, a habitually drunk driver will get behind the wheel of a car around eighty times before they are caught.
Just recently, a drunk driver caused a serious accident involving four cars and injuring seven people. The 33-year-old driver was speeding down a highway in the westbound lanes in his BMW when he attempted to pass another car and lost control. The BMW crossed over three lanes, hit several other vehicles, and crashed into the guardrail, then flipped over.
Two passengers, a 16-year-old and 34-year-old, that were in the vehicle with the drunk driver died from their injuries. Seven other people were also hurt and taken to the hospital for treatment.
The police have arrested the drunk driver and charged him with manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, aggravated vehicular homicide, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and reckless endangerment.
Absolutely nothing can bring back the two people who passed away, but their families may be able to obtain a sense of justice outside of the criminal charges.
