Jul 18, 2014 /prREACH/ -- Ripon, WI Invisalign dentist, Dr. Christopher Johnson, is giving adult patients a second chance at getting a flawless, straight smile after having braces in their younger years. An estimated 70 percent of adults who have completed orthodontic treatment as youth now experience some degree of misalignment due to their teeth shifting over time. With clear braces, Dr. Johnson gives adults the option to still feel confident about their smile even while working to make it look better.

“We see a high number of adult patients who come into our office that have had braces in their earlier years, but currently experience crowding, gapping, or bite problems due to jaw growth, not wearing retainers, or just simply because of the effects of time,” said Dr.  Johnson. “Most adults are completely not interested in going back to metal braces because of how it will impact their image, even if they desperately want that perfect, straight smile again. But with the Invisalign clear retainers, they can have the best of both worlds.”

Misaligned, gapped, or crowded teeth not only present aesthetic problems, but can make teeth more susceptible to decay due to trapped food, as well as chipping and cracking due to imperfect occlusion. Re-aligning teeth for adult patients gives them a better chance at keeping their natural teeth healthy for life. Invisalign has proven to be effective in correcting mild to moderate gapping, crowding, misalignment, underbites, overbites, and crossbites.

The Invisalign devices are made from soft, clear plastic that is custom shaped to the patient’s teeth. Dr. Johnson uses the latest 3D computer imaging to create a series of aligners for each patient that will shift their teeth into position over the course of 9-18 months. The patient wears the aligners for approximately 20-22 hours per day, and removes them for eating, drinking, and brushing. They offer much more lifestyle flexibility for the patient as they can also be removed for special occasions like meetings, interviews, important photos, etc.

Beyond offering clear braces in Ripon, WI, Dr. Johnson and his staff provide a variety of other dental services to help patients get happy, healthy smiles. At Silver Creek Dentistry, patients have access to implant dentistry, porcelain crowns, laser dentistry, oral conscious sedation, porcelain veneers, tooth whitening, and more.
