The Invisalign system by Align Technology is a revolutionary approach to straightening teeth quickly, comfortably, and virtually invisibly through a series of clear, custom-made aligners. Each set of aligners is made of smooth, comfortable plastic that is worn over the teeth. Changing to new aligners approximately every two weeks throughout the treatment period allows patient's teeth to shift into their proper positions gradually and comfortably. The gradual shift can dramatically reduce the aching and soreness that some patients experience with regular braces.
The Invisalign system is incredibly popular with all age groups due to its capacity to eliminate the aesthetic concerns created by metal braces. Teens, especially, enjoy the Invisalign system because the aligners can be removed for special occasions. Dr. Chapman is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the Clackamas Dental Society, and the Oregon Association of Orthodontists. To ensure contemporary knowledge in the latest innovations and techniques in the specialty of orthodontics, Dr. Chapman routinely attends continuing education seminars. Fueled by his passion for education, Dr. Chapman is also a board member at the North Clackamas Education Foundation, which provides funding for classroom and student needs.
Dr. Chapman grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and attended Santa Clara University, majoring in Combined Science. He then traveled to Omaha, NE for his Dental training, graduating Magna cum Laude, top of his class. Dr. Chapman did his Orthodontic specialty training in Portland at OHSU and decided to stay in the Portland area to practice and raise a family.
Dr. Chapman and his wife, Pamela, live in downtown Portland with their Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Ellie. Their children are grown, but as a family they enjoy activities such as skiing, scuba diving, golf and travel. Dr. Chapman has a particularly fast paced hobby: racecars. Most weekends, Dr. Chapman is at the race track enjoying controlled, high-speed fun. He also is a volunteer instructor for Teen Street Survival, an educational organization devoted to helping young drivers learn the advanced driving skills necessary to stay safe.
On a typical day, Dr. Chapman is happily buzzing about the office chatting up parents, coaching a patient through an Invisalign procedure and, most of all, laughing his way from one end of the ChapmanSmiles clinic to the other. He is always having a good time with his patients and parents. He’s even been rumored to squirt patients or parents with a water gun.
