Basic home dental hygiene is an important factor for overall oral health, but a healthy diet contributes in many crucial ways as well. Proper nutrition from a well-balanced diet is inextricably linked to positive, long-lasting oral health and better prevention of dangerous oral conditions that can lead to serious health problems throughout the body. Harmful acids and bacteria are present in the mouth after eating. The continued consumption of these types of products increases their risk of serious, long-term health problems like obesity, osteoporosis and diabetes, in addition to wreaking havoc on tooth enamel and gums, which can contribute to very serious health problems in adulthood.
