Apr 29, 2015 /prREACH/ -- Blue Rocket, a leading custom mobile application development studio, announced today the launch of the Epicenter, 30 Days Of Worldwide Earthquakes, app in the Apple App Store for iPhone, iPad and the Apple Watch. Epicenter is the first earthquake app for the Apple Watch and was available the day the Apple Watch was first released to market.

Epicenter is not your run of the mill earthquake app. Most earthquake apps use a planar map, however with the Epicenter app, iPhone and iPad users can rotate and zoom an interactive globe showing worldwide earthquake epicenter locations for the past 30 days (approximately 5000 earthquakes plotted on high quality terrain data). Users can also enable the “Today View” extension on the iPhone, iPad and the Apple Watch to quickly see the last closet and the largest earthquakes worldwide over the prior 24 hours quickly and easily.

Each earthquake epicenter is linked to detailed data provided by the USGS. Dots on the interactive globe show each epicenter and provide a clearer delineation of the underlying fault structures, especially in strike-slip regimes such as in California (pins hide details). Another great feature of the Epicenter app is the animated time-lapse sequence showing global earthquake events across the globe using an auto play or slider tool. Two plotting styles, Accumulate and Interval, are also provided within the Epicenter app.

“I’ve always had an interest in earthquakes and earthquake apps,” says CEO Jess Taylor.  “This app integrates publically available data and open source software to allow users to explore earthquake data in unique ways.  The Apple Watch is icing on the cake with near real-time and relevant earthquake data on your wrist!”

The Epicenter – 30 Days Of Worldwide Earthquakes app can be downloaded on Apple’s iTunes App Store here:
