Feb 19, 2014 /prREACH/ -- Boston Dentist Mark Beal, D.M.D., is proud to announce the addition of Invisalign® products to the selection of services available through his practice, Mark C. Beal, D.M.D. & Associates. The Invisalign system begins with a series of invisible aligners that aren’t noticeable to the public. The Invisalign molds are then created using 3D imaging technology. The final product is placed on the teeth for straightening and works like old-fashioned braces but without the pain and numerous mechanical problems. The aligners are removable, allowing patients to eat and drink freely while in treatment, and they allow for easy brushing and flossing, so hygiene is not a chore. Comfort is improved considerably over the old metal style, which also decreases time spent in the doctor's office getting adjustments.

Each set of aligners is worn for about two weeks. This allows the incremental straightening of the teeth as directed by the orthodontist. As each aligner is replaced with the next in the series, the patient’s teeth move slowly over time until they have straightened to the final position your doctor has prescribed. A patient undergoing the Invisalign treatment can expect checkups once every six weeks to ensure that treatment is progressing as planned. Total overall treatment time typically takes from 9-15 months, with the number of aligners worn in a series totaling between 18 and 30. Individual cases may vary.
