Antimicrobial properties of silver are well known for centuries. Recent usage of ionic and colloidal silver for antibacterial applications has been plagued with inferior products, scientific confusion and a marketing “fog” full of debatable claims. Recently, Goldsol Inc., through a cooperative relationship with world class nano technology university researchers has released Microbisil, a revolutionary new nano silver formulation that features a high concentration (25,000 ppm and higher) extremely stable silver colloidal solution ideal for antimicrobial applications. Goldsol’s Microbisil formula is unique in that it is extremely small, 10 nm in size, silver particles which are coated with a proprietary substance, so that the particles remain suspended, even at very high concentrations. The concentration is so high that the solution becomes almost black. The use of a coating agent is important in order for the colloid solution to remain stable in complex liquids like juices, soups or soft drinks. The coating agent also protects the silver from being chemically active while allowing a slow release of silver ions more than enough to achieve antibacterial concentrations and makes the nanoparticles safe in living organisms.
