Andes Natural Skin Care LLC with their brand Biocutis® is in a mission to bring to the world the very best all natural skin care products powered by snail secretions. They recently created an infographic to show what the essential antioxidant and skin regenerating secretions can hold for the beauty and health of the skin. Snails have skin cells and tissues similar to human skin and are endowed with glands among their tissues, that humans don’t have. Those glands create a complete and balanced skin care lotion that moisturizes and regenerates the skin. Continue reading

Aug 14, 2014 /prREACH/ -- Brown garden snails, of the species Cryptomphalus aspersa or Helix aspersa have been around and valued since the time of Hippocrates for their healing properties. The French and other Europeans enjoy them as delicious appetizers or as a main course, at home and at fine gourmet restaurants.

The demand for "escargots", as they are widely known, lead to a peculiar discovery. Small farmers packing wild escargots for export from Chile to the famous Restaurants and Bistros of Paris noticed their hands got very soft and cuts and abrasions healed quickly with no scarring. Even old scars disappeared completely.

Mario Reyes a member of the New York Academy of Science says: "That was back in the eighties. Since then we developed the technology to collect the secretions from live snails without injuring them. And to bring those secretions of the glands these snails have among their skin tissues, and we don't have, into the dermis".

The secretions have been scientifically and clinically proven to improve products that help solve many of peoples' skin ailing's and concerns: acne, scars, stretch marks, keratosis, chicken skin bumps, dermatitis, eczema, wrinkles, uneven skin color, hyperpigmentation, or premature aging due to excess solar radiation, to name a few.

Those interested in finding out more can view the results of  the scientific research, published by the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, on the regenerative properties of snail secretions used in skin care products, here. Clinical evidence on the performance of snail secretions for radiodermatitis, eczema, burns, and wrinkles, here.

The cells of the glands of snails produce factors that skin needs to repair and regenerate itself and be thoroughly nourished and healthy; including the essential antioxidant enzymes, peptides, soluble proteins, and complex glycan molecules the skin care industry thrives to create in a lab and mass-produce.

The rationale of supplying nutrients to the skin is that it may lack some essential minerals and molecules, specially if it is abused or too dry, or when it becomes injured or inflammed. Or, when nutrients become depleted because of imbalances of nutrient intake, pollution, or malfunctioning of the immune system.

Snails secrete their immune serum copiously to regenerate their skin and damaged tissues whenever they survive injurious burns or attacks from snail kite birds, large beetles, fireflies, toads and other predators eager for their rich proteins. They can even regenerate fully functional eyes.

They also secrete their serum to protect themselves from reactive oxygen molecules when emerging out of their shell after aestivating in the summer or hot weather says Biologist Marcelo Hermes-Lima from the Universidade de Brasilia.

The soluble proteins, enzymes, peptides and complex glyco (sugar or carbohydrate) molecules in the snail secretions are a complete and balanced solution for the skin. And it is currently not possible for the industry to replicate them each as they are made by the complex machinery of living cells.

Quotes
Snail secretions promote proliferation, migration and survival of keratinocytes [skin cells in the outer layer of the skin] and dermal fibroblasts [the stem cells of the skin], and have regenerative properties.
