Jun 18, 2014 /prREACH/ -- Splash Car Wash held its Wash & It Win Start-Me-Up Party Saturday where one lucky customer drove away in a brand new Corvette Stingray, courtesy of Splash and its co-sponsor Karl Chevrolet. Brett Wien, from Greenwich, Connecticut, was the last person to try his key and it was that key that started the car.

Entrants were selected at the 16 Splash locations over the past month. Karl Chevrolet also selected four key winners, Splash Oil Changes each selected a winner, and one key winner was selected from Splash fans on Facebook. Each key winner received $200 in Splash services and a $500 certificate from Karl against the purchase of any car at the dealership.

The contestants’ names were selected at random and they then chose the box which they believed held the key to the Corvette. One by one they tried to start the car until only two contestants remained. “I can’t believe box #28 wasn’t picked earlier”, added Mark Curtis, co-owner of Splash. “My son, Sam, suggested I use 28 because that’s his number in soccer”. But the number 28 also had a special meaning to the ultimate winner.

“I was going to pick number 28 whether I was the first person to try to start the car or the tenth”, stated Wien. “I just can’t believe it was still available at the end. My father passed away last October on the 28th, so that was my number. Not only that, he used to own a ’59 Corvette that we had to sell because he had suffered a stroke. Now I’ve won this Corvette using his number. I can’t believe it.” And on the day before Father’s Day.

Leo Karl, President of Karl Chevrolet in New Canaan, hosted the event at the dealership on Elm Street. Guests were treated to breakfast and music provided by 95.9 the Fox. Peter Bush, one of the station’s disc jockeys, emceed the event for the second year. “I cannot believe it came down to the last box! You couldn’t have written a better script with the winner honoring his dad that way. What a fantastic event.”
